Finding God
Look around you!
All that is
Was made by Him.
He is as near as a prayer.
Speak to Him; Speak softly,
In truth and honesty.
Tell Him your doubts,
Your fears,
Your hopes; your dreams.
Ask Him for strength;
For wisdom, for understanding,
And courage to stand your ground.
Look around you!
They who hunger need to be fed:
The sick and helpless need loving care.
Oh!
There is so much good
You can do!
And when your heart
Flows with loving care
You know God is there!

Two Roads
In my journey along life’s way
Two roads opened before me;
A choice had to be made.
One road was named Hate;
The other called Love.
Each with its destination label.
“This is a long, long road,
”Says the sign named Hate,
“You will find that Hate gets
Rougher, tougher with each step you take.
It will entangle you with anger and false pride.
It will claim you — body, mind, and soul.
And the Lord will weep bitter tears;
For Hate ends at Satan’s place.
This is a long, long road,
Reads the sign named Love,
You will find that Love grows
And grows with each step you take.
Goodness will be with you throughout life’s days;
Love will fill you — body, mind, and soul.
And the Lord will smile upon you,
For Love leads you to His place.
So I took the road named Love
And it’s true:
Love just grows and grows.
And one day, I pray,
I will arrive at my destination,
And find myself in the Lord’s Place.

Hello Soul
Hello, Soul,
Remind me
You’re inside me.
You are
My link to God.
Soul,
Strengthen me,
So I don’t let
Life’s hectic ways
Make me forget you.
Soul,
Lead me
Safely through
The hurt
Of life’s journey.
Soul,
Remind me
When I stumble,
That God can lift me up
And dry my tears.
Soul,
Help me
Nourish thee,
So I feel your
Bright, true light.
Soul,
Help me hear
Your joyful music,
Think pure thoughts;
Heed your guidance.
Soul,
Remind me
God’s way is good,
And filled with true
Treasures of happiness.
Soul,
Help me seek God’s
Peace and tender mercy,
So all will be well,
With thee, my Soul.
And Soul,
When you
Return to God
I pray I don’t
Return you wounded.

How Do You See God
How do you see God?
Do you see Him
As a giver of love,
Salvation and peace within?
Do you see Him
As a giver of hope,
And tender mercy,
As one with power to forgive?
How do you see God?
Do you see Him
As an angry scorekeeper
Who relishes in revenge?
Do you see Him
As one who hardens
His heart against creation
And punishes every sin?
Think carefully
Your answer,
For it shows
Your very soul.
How you live your life
Is a map for all to see
Is it filled with goodness?
Or doomed by hate and greed?
For the way you see God
Surely down deep
Is the way
You see yourself!

Living Witness
The way we live our lives,
The way we show our love,
That is how we truly witness
To those we meet in life’s way.
It does more harm than good
To shun “sinners” in our midst;
To put down those
Who refuse to see our “light.”
Jesus doesn’t need
Arm-twisting, super salesmen.
That wasn’t His way;
It shouldn’t be ours.

ONCE THERE WAS ...
Once there was a man named Jesus;
He was filled with God’s love from above.
He lifted up the humble souls;
Wickedness of hypocrites, he unveiled;
Sinners, he embraced and gave hope.
The arrogant mighty, he rebuked.
He was the Son of God, who spoke Truth
About life, about love.
Once there was a man named Jesus;
He was filled with God’s love from above.
“Love God with heart and soul,” he taught;
“And love yourself, love others as well.”
He taught us how to live;
He showed us how to love;
He gave his life, yet He lives
Eternally with God in Heaven above.
Once there was a man named Jesus;
He was filled with God’s love from above.
He holds the key to heaven,
And gives it to all who love.

WWJD
W…W…J…D
The letters are worn like jewelry,
Stamped boldly on sundry things.
They are chanted by many,
And pose the question:
What Would Jesus Do?
What Would Jesus Do?
Would this humble savior
Compete to out-fight,
Out-drink, out-cuss,
Out-boast one and all?
What Would Jesus Do?
Would He use sex
As a seductive weapon
To gain popularity
Or personal power?
What Would Jesus Do?
Would He, who healed the sick,
Use mind-changing drugs,
Smoke cigarettes,
Or chew and spit?
What Would Jesus Do?
Would He hurt others
With distortions and lies,
Put-down words,
Or hateful deeds?
What Would Jesus Do?
Would He shut his eyes and ears
So He could not see, not hear
The cries of the hungry, the sick,
The hopeless and the homeless?
The Jesus
I know
Would say “No”
To all of the
Above.
He would show
Love and kindness,
Compassion and humility,
Mercy and forgiveness.
That’s what He would do.
